Being Dark Skinned May Not Protect You From Skin Cancer, Like Melanoma.

It's true that fair skinned people are at a greater risk of skin cancer; but, it's a lie that dark skinned people like you and I are not at a risk. Well, we are.

Dark skinned people are also vulnerable to skin cancer. And therefore they should also avoid excessive sun-exposure, especially going out between 10.00 am to 2.00 pm.

Sunscreens can help you. However some people, whom we had a word with, said they avoided sun screen because of the white residue that's left behind. Well, the new-age sunscreens not only give you better protection against the harmful effects of the Sun's UV rays, but also go well with all skin types. So, you better start taking care of your skin.

Treatment is more effective if Melanoma – the deadliest form of skin cancer – and other skin cancer types are detected at an early stage. The best cancer hospitals in India recommend tracking and reporting any skin changes to a skin specialist.

One more thing: skin cancer can also occur on areas, which may not have received enough sun exposure. These areas could be the area between your toes, soles of your feet and in the genitals.

We understand there is more to skin cancer; we'll cover that all in our upcoming blog posts.
